Is the New Stadium “Wang” for Pitchers?

The New Yankee Stadium had 17 home runs take off out of the ball park last weekend. 17 home runs in the first series of baseball played there. For all of the planning, the $1.5 billion dollars spent to make this the cathedral of baseball, and to keep the “play” of the original Yankee Stadium all the Yankees achieved was the creation of a “launching pad” to right field and a “band box” of a stadium.

I have come up with four theories on why the ball fly’s out of right field.

1. Please see the image below. It is possible that the architecture of the new stadium creates a wind tunnel. By lowering the slant and steepness of the upper decks it has altered the way that the wind enters the stadium. This statement is a little too logical, and for 1.5 billion dollars, I believe it was thought of.

2. Coincidence, 17 homeruns in a series has happened before. I mean look at the old stadium it happened 4 times. Maybe this was just one of those unique weekends.

3. Fans love home runs, couldn’t you just see it the Steinbrenner’s create a stadium that has more home runs then any other ball park to attract the fans. Home runs bring fans, and fans bring money. To bad the $900 seats are behind home plate, where fans can’t catch a home run.

4. My personal favorite. The baseball gods are just pissed off that their most historical home was replaced with this state of the art facility. Why not? I mean the baseball gods are responsible for everything else the Yankees do right?

What ever the reason does not matter, this is a great place to enjoy a baseball game and to see home runs hit. Go out cheer the home team on, buy a $9 beer, and $5 hot dog (hey it’s Nathan’s) and enjoy a good old baseball game at the 1.5 billion dollar stadium that George built.

Time to travel

Have you ever just wanted a change? Or just felt like you need to try something new? When I stay in the same routine for a long time I sometimes feel as though I am accomplishing nothing, so I begin to look for instant change. I begin to look at traveling, and seeing the world, it makes my mind wonder, and lets me know that there is plenty out there to do. I look for inspiration, so here are a few good quotes that might help inspire you to get out, go on an adventure, and spice your life up.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain

“What you’ve done becomes the judge of what you’re going to do - especially in other people’s minds. When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.” - William Least Heat Moon

“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” - Lin Yutang

A man travel the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it.
